Abstract£º Newman and Penrose developed a set of techniques for solving Einstein's gravitational field equations based on the cursor-like frame, which is called the Newman-Penrose form. As an application of differential geometry moving frame method in general relativity, it shows great power when dealing with calculations involving "zero" or "light-like". This report begins with a brief introduction to the Newman-Penrose form. As an application, we will also present a recent work on the uniqueness of black holes by the reporter with He Xiaokai (Hunan First Normal University) and Wu Xiaoning (Institute of Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences).
