Abstract:
Carbon-based nanomaterials has drawn increasing attention recently in the field of bioimaging, drug delivery, photothermal or photodynamic therapy, anti-bacteria and immunity, but their wide applications have been handicapped by their poor physiological stability and uncertain biocompatibility. Reducing the size of a nanoparticle represents an important strategy to improve its biocompatibility. In this talk, it will be presented the recent efforts of the synthesis and biomedical applications of ultra-small carbon nanomaterials, which covers the in vitro and in vivo toxicity, bioimaging, photothermal therapy, vaccine adjuvant and anti-bacteria according to various physicochemical properties of the carbon nanomaterials. In addition, the advantages of self-assembly technique will be demonstrated, for the construction of multifunctional drug delivery systems to solve the problems of low payload and short blood circulation time of the ultra-small carbon nanomaterials.
