Management and Organization Studies

Coauthored with Yuhuan Liu and Runtian Jing

My presentation will provide you with a case analysis of the emergence and legitimation process of OF. I will take you through different stages of the whole process and show you how the complex institutional environment−the coexisting and competing relationships among state, civil society, social mission, and market logics−actually provides impetus for novel practices. A temporal model is theorized to show how actors seek provisional solutions in different stages of organizational emergence and gradually develop reflexivity and ability to achieve their goals.

The working project offers new empirical evidence by showing how a philanthropic organization plays a role as a changing agent and sheds lights on the process that drives innovation in China’s non-profit sector.
