University of Toronto (2005-2006) ? One year studying in the Materials Science and Engineering department on an exchange program. University of Sheffield (2004-2008) ? First Class MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering (ranked second in graduating year). Relevant Work Experience Nature Communications – Nature Publishing Group (January 2013-Present) ? Associate Editor handling the selection and peer review of articles for consideration for publication across the physical sciences, including materials science, materials chemistry and inorganic electronics. Imperial College London – Department of Materials (November 2011-December 2012) ? Postdoctoral Research Associate followed by EPSRC Doctoral Fellow. ? Research focused on the development of a new setup for micropillar compression for in-situ synchrotron experiments for studying deformation mechanisms in a range of ceramic and crystalline materials, as well as developing new alloy chemistries. ? Lectured undergraduates on the mechanical properties of materials. Guardian Industries Corporation - New York, USA (April-September 2007) ? Five month internship working as a process engineer in a float glass plant. Work involved completing projects with importance to improved furnace throughput, including a thermal survey with the aim of improving thermal efficiency and working lifetime.
