In this lecture we provide an overview of the theoretical concepts and methods underlying the description of the ultrafast quantum dynamics of molecular systems. These dynamics lie at the heart of chemical transformations, for example, bond breaking, and charge and energy transfer processes, and non-adiababtic molecular dynamics. Subsequently we illustrate some of the current applications in our research group, and finally we address challenges and opportunities for future work.
